Trout Power 2017 Success

This years Trout Power was a huge success.  All in we had 33 people participate in the event and we were able to capture 30 fin clip DNA samples.  This year we reached farther than the South Inlet and started to map all the Tribs that flow into Raquette Lake.

Above is a brook Trout caught this weekend by Bobbi Jo Ross.  Caught, loved and released.

Below is our ongoing master map file that we use to keep track of all our sampling.

All this comes at a price though?  As part of our P3 concept...  protect - promote - prosper;  this year 100% of the revenue from the event went to the local Sagamore Institute.

As an upcoming 501C and an active scientific group, we need to now start fund raising to get more done with the data we collected.

  • Close to $4000.00 need to be raised for the testing of the samples, including the chemistry to test them.
  • About $1000.00 is needed for an insurance policy so that we can deploy our temperature sensors to monitor this years temp fluctuations.
  • Another $5000.00 is needed to finish our documentary on Trout Power so that we can market our story and our mission to protect the wild trout streams in the Adirondacks.
There is a lot left to still do.  If you are interested in helping to sponsor one of the above, please contact our secretary Mark Usyk
